Ilya Pyatetskii-Shapiro

Ilya Pyatetskii-Shapiro

Ilya Pyatetskii-Shapiro (born 1929) is a mathematician, well known for contributions to the theory of Fourier series, bounded homogeneous domains and associated discrete groups, automorphic forms, and algebraic geometry. Born into a Jewish family in the USSR, he emigrated to Israel. He has held professorial positions at Tel Aviv University and Yale University.

He was awarded the Wolf Prize in Mathematics in 1990.
