John Blake, Jr. (politician)

John Blake, Jr. (December 5, 1762 - January 13, 1826) was a United States Representative from New York. Born in Ulster County, he attended the public schools and during the Revolutionary War served in the New York State Militia. He was appointed deputy sheriff of Ulster County in 1793, was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1798 to 1800, and was sheriff of Orange County from 1803 to 1805.

Blake elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Ninth and Tenth Congresses, holding office from March 4, 1805 to March 3, 1809. He was again a member of the State assembly in 1812 and 1813 and was judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Orange County from 1815 to 1818. He again served in the State assembly in 1819, and was supervisor of the town of Montgomery for fifteen terms. He died in Montgomery in 1826; interment was in the Berea Churchyard, near Newburgh.
