(2007)"Hood Boy" is the first single from Fantasia Barrino's second album, "Fantasia" (2006). Produced by Tone Mason, it features a guest appearance from Big Boi from OutKast and has peaked at #21 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at #3 (roughly equivalent to #103).

The song was written by R&B singer Johnta Austin, Anthony McIntyre, and Big Boi. It is built around a sample of The Supremes' number-one hit "The Happening", originally written by Motown songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland and film/TV composer Frank DeVol for the 1967 film of the same name. In a review of "Hood Boy", "Rolling Stone" called the song "a thrilling burst of Motown...to which Fantasia adds an amped-up ode to around-the-way boys". Despite positive critical reaction, the single failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100.

Music video

The video premiered on BET. It features Fantasia in various locations, first in a barber shop as she attracts many men, then driving on a motorcycle as she carresses a boy sitting in front of her. She arrives at a party, where she dances and Big Boi appears and raps. The video peaked at #2 on BET's Top Ten Countdown.
