Angi Uezu

Angi Uezu (January 3, 1935 - ) is the founder of one of the major Isshin-ryu karate organizations, the Okinawan Isshin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Association (O.I.K.K.A., founded in 1990), and its former head. He is the son-in-law of the system's founder, Shimabuku Tatsuo, and is a 9th degree black belt.

He was born in Chiyaranka City on the island of Saipan. His family moved to Okinawa after WWII. He married Yukiko Shimabuku, the third daughter of Shimabuku Tatsuo, with whom he had a son, in the late 1950s and began training in Isshin-ryu karate in 1962. He is now retired from teaching martial arts and lives in Gushikawa City.

Angi was inducted into the Isshin-ryū Hall of Fame in 1997.
