Lechia Gdańsk, IPA2|ˈlɛxja ˈgdaɲsk, is a Polish football club (founded in 1945 as a "BOP Baltia Gdańsk") based in Gdańsk, Poland. In May 2008 the club won promotion to the Polish top division. Founded in 1945, Lechia was a powerhouse of Polish football in mid-1950s. Next decades were lean, the team returned in early 1980s, winning Cup of Poland, and playing in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup, where it lost to Juventus Turin.
