Northern Burlington County Regional High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from four communities in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. Students are served from Chesterfield Township, Mansfield Township, North Hanover Township and Springfield Township, along with children of USAF personnel based at McGuire Air Force Base.[3] First opening to students upon the completion of the current building in 1960, the school is located in the Columbus section of Mansfield Township.[1] The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 1966.[4]

As of the 2009-10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,156 students and 83 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.93.[2]

The school was the 186th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 322 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2010 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 153rd in 2008 out of 316 schools.[5] The school was ranked 184th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.[6]

Athletics

The Northern Burlington County Regional High School Greyhounds compete in the Liberty Division of the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL), sports association under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.[7] The league consists of public and non-public high schools covering Burlington County, Mercer County and Ocean County in central New Jersey. The school used to compete in the smaller groups (I and II), but since the district population has expanded in the past 25 years, it competes in the Group III category. The school's mascot is the Greyhound; colors: Blue, White and Silver.

In 2003, the girls basketball team won the South, Group II state sectional championship with a 39-34 win against Haddonfield Memorial High School in the tournament final, the team's first-ever sectional title.[8][9][10]
