While in route the plane experienced severe icing conditions resulting in a rapid loss of altitude. The crew was able to recover control of the aircraft and successfully land at the West Palm Beach Airport 12 minutes later. The aircraft was inspected after landing and the crew noticed that it appeared to suffer permanent deformation of the elevator and stabilizer. This aircraft was next off of the production line after N265CA which crashed in January 1997. See Comair Flight 3272.
Comair discontinued the use of this aircraft type in October 2002.
