Héctor Arturo Sanhueza Medel (born March 11, 1978 in Concepción, Chile) is football player, who currently plays for Chilean club Deportes Iquique as a defensive midfielder..

Sanhueza began his career with the second division Chilean club Fernández Vial. He then spent time on Everton and Santiago Wanderers of Chile before making the move to Colo-Colo in 2005. Sanhueza in Colo-Colo is the captain since David Henriquez left the team, and also he wins six national titles for the team and in Wanderers one national title in 2001. Sanhueza ended up signing a contract extension to stay with Colo-Colo until 2011.[1]

Club career

Sanhueza was born in the province of Concepción in the Bío-Bío Region. At the age of 17, Sanhueza began his career in a club of the zone Arturo Fernández Vial, in this club he remained until 1999, when he was transferred to Colo-Colo in 2000. Few weeks after Sanhueza was loaned to Everton de Viña del Mar on January of this year, but he had a poor pass in this club; he played 15 games of 30 and only scored one goal and the team was relegated to Primera B.

Santiago Wanderers

After this poor campaign Sanhueza finished the loan with Everton and returned to Colo-Colo in 2001, but after he was transferred to Santiago Wanderers being unaffected of the club. In the 2001 season of Santiago Wanderers, Sanhueza was crowned champion of Primera División with the club; he played all matches and also he scored one goal. In 2002, Sanhueza made his debut in Copa Libertadores against Boca Juniors, and the club was drawn in a 0-0 away match, the player was one of the best players of match, and in the second leg of the group Wanderers was win in a 1-0 home match, in the domestic league Wanderers finished in the quarterfinals of play-offs. Finally the player remained until 2005 in the club.

Colo-Colo

On January 2005 Sanhueza was transferred to Colo-Colo, Sanhueza newly had the opportunity of play with Colo-Colo, the only team of Chile in win the Copa Libertadores and the team with most titles in Chile with 23. Sanhueza made a regular campaign with Colo-Colo, playing all matches and scoring one goal in the two tournaments (Clausura and Apertura).

In 2006, Sanhueza was live his best cycle in his career with Colo-Colo, the player was win the two local titles, he newly played the Copa Libertadores, but Colo-Colo was loss against Chivas de Guadalajara in a 8-4 global result, he wins the Tornbeo Apertura making 22 appearances and scoring 1 goal, he was play the two finals against Uniersidad de Chile in the first and second leg, the most notable match was the match of second leg in where Colo-Colo wins in the penalties in a 4-2 result, in Torneo Clausura he wins newly the Primera División tournement, making 19 appearances and scoring two goals, the final match was against Audax Italiano in a 6-2 global result.

In 2007, he newly win the two local tournaments, and he played Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana, in Copa Libertadores he plays all matches, but Colo-Colo was eliminated in the quarterfinals by América in a 5-2 global results, in the local plane the team was champion. On 13 May, Sanhueza scored a long distance goal against his former club Santiago Wanderers at Estadio Monumental David Arellano in a 3-1 home win. On 27 May, Sanhueza wins a match for the championship against Universidad Católica and he had said xenophobic suchs to the Peruvian coach and former player of Universidad Católica, José del Solar.
