Illinois Central College, often called ICC, is a large Illinois community college with its main campus in northern East Peoria, Illinois. As of Fall of 2007, ICC had an enrollment of 11,804 students, with a full-time equivalency of 6,829 students, and served 20,152 individual students across the entire fiscal year. 91.3% of students were in-district residents.

Academic facilities

As of 2007, ICC offers 67 transferable Associate in Arts & Sciences programs, 85 Associate in Applied Science programs, and 95 occupational certificate programs. There are approximately 3000 classes offered each semester, and the average class size is 13. Its educational accreditation is from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which accredits most of the colleges and universities in the central United States.

ICC has three major sites:
* Main campus at 1 College Drive in East Peoria
* Downtown campus, consisting of the Perley and Thomas buildings on Adams Street in Peoria
* ICC North campus, at 5407 North University, also in Peoria

Campus life

ICC has over 40 official student clubs and organizations. The "Harbinger" is the student newspaper and is distributed six times per year at no charge. Newspaper work can be arranged as academic credit or as an extra-cirricular activity. There is an apartment complex, named Woodview Commons, on the ICC campus. The property is owned by a limited liability company subsidiary of the Illinois Central College Educational Foundation, and managed by the Texas company Century Campus Housing Management Corporation. Intramural sports include basketball, bowling, flag football, tennis, and volleyball. Chamionship teams

The six-time national champion women's basketball program is well known. Lorene Ramsey's 33 years coaching the team brought them 887 wins to 197 losses (.818), and five NJCAA Women's Basketball Championship titles in Division II: 1992, 1993, 1998, 1999, and 2003. Famous players from the women's basketball team include Christelle N'Garsanet (2003), who was signed by the New York Liberty in the WNBA, and Cindy Ellis, who played for the Milwaukee Does in the Women's Professional Basketball League and was in the trials for the 1976 Olympic team. The ICC softball team has also been national champions twice: 1982, and 1998 as Division I.
