USS "Vicksburg" (CG-69) is a "Ticonderoga"-class
guided missile cruiser serving in theUnited States Navy . She is named for the landBattle of Vicksburg fought during theAmerican Civil War ."Vicksburg" was built by
Ingalls Shipbuilding , atPascagoula, Mississippi . Her keel was laid down onMay 30 1990 and she was launched onSeptember 7 1991 . "Vicksburg" is sponsored by Tricia Lott, wife of United States Senator,Trent Lott . OnOctober 12 1991 , Mrs. Lott christened CG-69 as "Vicksburg". She was commissioned onNovember 14 1992 . The previous "Vicksburg" was a
