Cyathopharynx is a monotypic genus of cichlid fish. The single species, Cyathopharynx furcifer, originally described by Boulenger as Paratilapia furcifer in 1898 but later reclassified as Cyathopharynx furcifer, is endemic to Lake Tanganyika in east Africa. Aquarium literature sometimes recognises a second species, Cyathopharynx foai (eg: Konings, 1995) originally described by Vailliant as Ectodus foae in 1899, though this species is not currently formally recognized.
