The Penn-Trafford School District is a public school district that serves western Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The district neighbors 6 other school districts: Franklin Regional, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield Area, Jeannette City, Norwin, and East Allegheny. The Penn-Trafford School District is the public school system of the following Westmoreland County entities; Penn Township, Trafford Borough, Manor Borough and Penn Borough. The school district was created with the merger of the Penn Joint school system with Trafford Boro's in 1973. Previously, the Penn Joint school system comprised of all of the above entities except for Trafford Boro. Also, Trafford Boro has a small area that includes part of Allegheny County. This portion is also part of the Penn-Trafford School District.

Penn Middle School and Trafford Middle School are the previous high schools before the school districts joined. Trafford Middle's boundries though includes a large area of Penn Township to roughly equalize the school sizes of the two middle schools.

There is a controversy with the spelling of Penn Trafford. Some spell it with a hyphen, and others do not. For example, on the diplomas, The front reads "Penn-Trafford High School" while the inside reads "Penn Trafford High School."Fact|date=April 2008McCullough Elementary won the "Boundless Playground" contest, receiving a free playground suitable for all children, disabilities and not.Fact|date=May 2008Brenna's former school district.

Athletics

Penn-Trafford participates in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). The colors are green and gold.
