Yorkville Middle School

Yorkville Middle School is a junior high school in Yorkville, Illinois. The school opened in 1959 as the Yorkville High School, then expanded in 1969. Before that time the city's middle school was in Circle Center School. In 1998 the new high school was opened moving the middle school to the old high school building. It was originally 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, but when Yorkville Intermediate School was built 6th grade was moved there. The school will be rebuilt and reopened in autumn of 2008, and the current school will be freshmen-only.

Yorkville Middle School has been a middle school since 1992 and not a junior high. It was one of the first middle schools to join the Association of Illinois Middle Schools and has been a members of AIMS ever since.
