Club career

An academy product, Cousins broke into the Colchester United first team against Barnsley in August 2007.[1]

Following former boss Paul Lambert's arrival at the club, Mark enjoyed his first run in the senior team, eventually making 13 appearances in first team matches.

In August 2010 Mark earned his first extended run in the first team since the end of the 2008/2009 season. Mark kept goal for the first ten games of the season, a run in which Colchester were unbeaten, and Mark was rewarded By being included in the Npower 'Team of the Week' on the 20th September 2010[2]

On 27 May 2010, Cousins signed a new two-year deal with the club and will now compete with goalkeepers Ben Williams and Carl Pentney for the 2011–12 season.[3]
