The University of Provence Aix-Marseille I is a university located in both Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. It is one of the three Universities of Aix-Marseille and is part of the Academy of Aix and Marseille.

Overview

It was founded in 1409. In the academic year of 2005-2006, 22,885 students were enrolled, 17,714 in the arts and 5,171 in the sciences. The ratio of female:male in this year was almost 2:1. Almost 3,500 students came from countries other than France.fact|date=March 2007

Its campuses are located across Provence with locations in Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Aubagne, Lambesc and Marseille.
