Jason Shawn Alexander or J. Alexander (B. 1975) is a painter, illustrator, draftsman, and storyteller from Portland,Tennessee.

Biography

Recognized by his peers, [As a result of his collaboration with comics legend Mike Mignola Serwin points out that Jason, "stands poised on the brink of superstardom." (Serwin [2008] )] he is a Silver Medal Award recipient from the Society of Illustrators-Los Angeles as well as a nominee for two Eisner Awards.

Jason is a working artist with no formal art education. Brad Martin, a contributing writer with Juxtapoz Magazine, describes his fine art pieces, "his gritty, drippy, and dark style lends an ominous air, like a fresh grave, and the subject’s poses humanize the whole thing." [(Martin [2008] )]

In addition to internationally exhibited commissioned and original paintings, he has produced illustrations for Dark Horse Comics, Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Hasboro, White Wolf, Inc, and Dalmatian Press. A self-starter, his creator-owned "Empty Zone" was published for years by Sirius Entertainment. And he won critical acclaim for his contributions to "Poison Elves: Lusiphur and Linlith", written by Drew Hayes, also for Sirius Entertainment.

He currently resides and works in Los Angeles, California.
