Shel Goldstein is a Canadian actress intermittently active in politics.
She was born in
Toronto , and was educated atMcGill University andYork University . While continuing to play roles infilm ,television ,theatre , andadvertising , she stood for the now-defunctNational Party of Canada in Willowdale for the 1993 election. The party's key policy was opposition to theCanada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement , a cause that Goldstein strongly supports. Following the collapse of the National Party, she transferred her support to the Green Party. She ran as its candidate forEglinton—Lawrence in the 2004 federal election, and received 1,924 votes (4.09%) for a fourth-place finish against Liberal incumbentJoseph Volpe .External links
