Volunteer Florida

The Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, Volunteer Florida, is a commission of the Executive Branch of Florida state government. It was established in 1994 by the Florida Legislature to administer grants under the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. The Commission grants funds to Florida AmeriCorps and National Service programs; encourages volunteerism for everyone from youths to seniors to people with Disabilities; promotes volunteerism in Emergency management and preparedness; supports the Governor's initiatives through the creation of innovative volunteer programs; and helps to strengthen and expand Florida's Volunteer center network.

Volunteer Florida Commissioners drive the organization's mission and are involved actively in volunteer and service activities. They are a diverse, bipartisan group of citizens appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate, who may serve two- to three-year terms and may be appointed for consecutive terms.
