Racing Post Trophy

Racing Post Trophy

__NOTOC__The Racing Post Trophy is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) at Doncaster Racecourse, and it takes place annually in late October.

First run in 1961, the race was originally sponsored by Timeform and titled the Timeform Gold Cup. It was subsequently known as the Observer Gold Cup (1965–75, sponsored by The Observer) and the Futurity Stakes (1976–88, sponsored by William Hill), before taking its present name when the Racing Post took sponsorship in 1989.

Four winners of the race have gone on to win the Epsom Derby the following year – Reference Point, High Chaparral, Motivator and Authorized.
