Joseph Langtry

Joseph Langtry

Captain Joseph Miller Langtry (b. May 1, 1805, Aldingbourne, Sussex – d. February 14, 1862, Southampton, Hampshire) Royal Navy captain who happened to be born in the very same year as the Battle of Trafalgar; an event which marked not only the history of his own country but the history of his very own life when years later, as a young adult he chose to devote his own life to serving as an officer in the Royal Navy. He left the academy as a young lieutenant on October 2 1827, commanded many ships, and was promoted to the rank of captain by Captain Goldsmith of HMS "Wellesly" on July 4 1859.
