Career

Chris began his career in newspapers - first The Redland Times then The Sun in Brisbane. He has also worked for Nine Network in the Gold Coast for a year.

Reason came to Seven News in 1990 in Brisbane as a crime reporter. Chris was appointed to Seven's London Bureau in 1992, the youngest in the network's history. In 1993 he, became Bureau Chief, a major promotion. Four years later, Reason returned to Australia, to Seven's Sydney newsroom as a Senior Network Reporter.

In 2002, Chris was announced as co-host of the revamped Sunrise alongside Melissa Doyle. In October, it was discovered that Reason had a cancerous tumour behind his kidney, forcing him to take a leave of absence. He was replaced by David Koch. Four years earlier he had undergone treatment for testicular cancer.

After recovering, the following year Reason became presenter of Seven Morning News. He was then made presenter of Sunday Sunrise in 2005, and later that year named co-host of Weekend Sunrise alongside Lisa Wilkinson, but was later replaced by Deal or No Deal host Andrew O'Keefe.

While reporting for Seven News, Chris has filed stories from some of the world's hot spots - including Bosnia, Northern Ireland, the Middle East and the Pacific rim. He covered the Boxing Day Tsunami from Thailand and Banda Aceh, the September 11 attacks, the Kobe earthquake, Princess Diana's funeral, the Hong Kong handover, the 2000 Fiji Coup, the 1997 Thredbo landslide, the Beaconsfield mine disaster and the East Timor chaos in 2000. He has covered five Olympic Games. He has won a Logie Award for News Reporting and been a multiple Walkley finalist. He has also covering the 2008 US presidential election.

Chris is currently a fill-in presenter for many Seven News bulletins, including Seven Morning News, Seven 4.30 News and Seven News Sydney. He presented the latter on weekends during the 2007-08 summer period. He attended Villanova College in Brisbane's southern suburb of Coorparoo
