Utah District 2 of the United States House of Representatives is a Congressional district that currently serves the largely rural southern and eastern portions of Utah (including Saint George and Moab in the south and Vernal in the east), as well as the east side of urban Salt Lake County, the northern portion of Utah County, and Wasatch County. The current Representative from District 2 is Democrat Jim Matheson. Even though George W. Bush received 67% of the vote in this district in 2004, Rep. Matheson's conservative Democratic stances keep him in office.

Matheson is facing the Republican challenger Bill Dew in the 2008 general election. Dew defeated five other Republican contenders to win his party's nomination at Utah's state convention.
