The Section (band)

The Section (band)

The Section was an American rock band formed in the early 1970s encompassing both studio and stage work by musicians Danny Kortchmar, Craig Doerge, Leland Sklar, and Russ Kunkel. Their work defined the easy-listening sound of the 1970s mellow mafia centered in Los Angeles; their ubiquity on the records of artists signed to Asylum Records made them the label's "de facto" house band.

They appeared together and individually on albums by Crosby & Nash, James Taylor, Carole King and Jackson Browne, and acted as back-up band on their tours. The Section also released three mostly instrumental albums under the band name, "The Section" (1972), "Forward Motion" (1973), and "Fork It Over" (1977).
