WPTC is the non-commercial radio station licensed to the Pennsylvania College of Technology, located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The station broadcasts at 88.1 FM frequency.

Broadcast Formats

WPTC broadcasts on a 24 hours a day, year-round broadcast schedule. During this time, the station has three major formats that it operates under. During the academic year, the stations broadcasts a modern rock format from 7 AM Monday to 12 Midnight Friday. On weekends (Midnight Friday to 7 AM Monday) and during summer and semester breaks, the station broadcasts a jazz format.

Call Letter Change

During the late 1990s, the station went through the process of having its call letters changed, in compliance with FCC rules and regulations for this type of change. The call letters current at that time, "WWAS", where removed and the current call letters, "WPTC", where given to the station. During this process, the original plan was to change the call letters to "WPCT" to match the abbreviated letter of the college, Pennsylvania College of Technology. This plan did not come to be due to the fact that the "WPCT" call letters where already in use by another radio station, and still are today.

Management & Staff

The station is managed by Mass Media Communications students and a faculty adviser. The staff of approximately 35 students, from the Mass Media major as well as students from other majors, and 15 community volunteers man the station during daily operation.
