The Theatre of Small Convenience

The Theatre of Small Convenience

The Theatre of Small Convenience is a theatre in Worcestershire, England, which entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the smallest theatre in the world, in 2002 [http://www.cotswolds.info/worcestershire/the-malverns.shtml Malvern Hills Tourist Information and Travel Guide] ] [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2319191.stm BBC News] A home of convenience, 11 October 2002] . The theatre has a capacity of 12 people seated, or 16 people standing.

Located in Edith Walk, Great Malvern, the theatre was founded by puppeteer Dennis Neale in 1999. It was converted from a derelict Victorian Gentlemen’s public convenience, hence the name. The theatre has regularly hosted puppetry, professional and amateur actors, drama, poetry, story-telling and opera.

The theatre has become a regular venue of the Malvern Fringe festivals and in 2005, the theatre was chosen as one of the venues during an international puppet festival [http://archive.droitwichadvertiser.co.uk/2005/5/13/13305.html Theatre's key role in international festival] ] Dead link|date=June 2008.
