Shawn Redhage (born January 21, 1981 in Lincoln, Nebraska) is an American-Australian basketball player currently playing in the National Basketball League for the Perth Wildcats.

Playing career

In the United States, Redhage was awarded Nebraska Player of the Year award in 1998/99 after a stunning senior year with Lincoln East High School. After high school, Redhage began studying and playing for Arizona State University. Once in Australia, Redhage played in the SEABL for the NW Tasmania Thunder in 2004. Redhage was instrumental in the Thunder's SEABL championship (although they lost the ABA championship), and was awarded the SEABL MVP [cite web| title = Redhage red-hot | publisher = NBL | date = 2004| url = http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&aid=1189] .

Redhage began his NBL career in September 2004 with the New Zealand Breakers. He was released mid-season after playing only 13 games, when the Breakers decided to sign veteran import Marcus Timmons [cite web| title = Breakers grab Timmons | publisher = New Zealand Breakers | date = 2004| url = http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&aid=1492] . Redhage returned to the SEABL to play for the Bendigo Braves after his departure from the Breakers. Redhage joined the Wildcats in 2005, where he instantly made an impact and was one of the top contenders for the league MVP award. According to Channel Ten News, Redhage's first application to become a naturalized Australian citizen was rejected by the Australian government. In early March 2007, Shawn's second application was accepted. This begins a two year waiting period, where at the end of the two years he will become a naturalized citizen of Australia.

He was naturalized on the January 12, 2008 in a ceremony before the Wildcats game against the Gold Coast Blaze.

On Friday 28 December, 2007, Redhage and his wife Gretchen gave birth to a baby girl, their first child.

In 2007/08 season Redhage is in the top 10 rebounds, top 20 blocks, top 5 points per game averaging 22.4, top 20 foul shot %.
