TheKrenitzin Islands lie to its south and southeast across theAvatanak Strait . Akun Island has a land area of 166.77 km² (64.39 sq mi) and is unpopulated.Akun Island is home to a small but significant population of cows introduced by the Russians. They are no longer domesticated.
