"The Dogfather" was created by
Hawley Prattand Friz Freleng. The series was released through theaters by United Artistsand ran from 1974 to 1976. 17 shorts were produced.
The series was basically a parody of the movie, "
The Godfather" but with canines as part of the Italian organized crime syndicate. It consists of the Dogfather (voiced by Bob Holt) and his henchmen Pug and Louie (both voiced by Daws Butler).

19 years later in 1993 a new version of the cartoon produced for "The Pink Panther" aired with
Joe Piscopoas the voice of Dogfather while Pug and Louie are voiced by Brian Georgeand Jess Harnell. In 'The Pink Panther's Passport to Peril', the name of the main villain is the Dogfather.
