Jockvale Road

Jockvale Road

Jockvale Road is a road in Ottawa, Ontario that bisects the older neighbourhoods of Barrhaven. It also serves the new communities south of Barrhaven and is a major road for reaching Manotick.

Jockvale Road begins in northwestern Barrhaven at Cedarview Road. Before Barrhaven started to become residentially developed in the late 1960s, the road was a lone rural diagonal route continuing to the intersection of Cedarview Road and Fallowfield. It runs southwesterly as an isolated road: road access to the nearby houses is limited to a few intersections and two roundabouts. Jockvale Road is broken by commercial development: it stops at Strandherd Drive and resumes near Greenbank Road. Jockvale Road passes through the communities of Heart's Desire and Stonebridge before reaching Prince of Wales Drive, where the road continues to Manotick as Rideau Valley Drive. Jockvale Road has the designation of Ottawa Road #13 from Greenbank to Prince of Wales.

The community of "Jockvale" originally referred to a small group of homes near the Jockvale/Greenbank intersection; it now appears that name will be used for a new development west of Jockvale's terminus at Cedarview.
