Stolt-Nielsen (ose|SNI, nasdaq|SNSA) is a Norwegian-Luxembourgish shipping and seafood company. The company has two main subsidiaries, Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group and Stolt Sea Farms. The company has its headquarters formerly in London although most of its operations are in Rotterdam, it is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.

tolt-Nielsen Transportation Group

Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group (SNTG) is one of the world's largest parcel tanker companies with 130 ships and eight terminals. SNTG has 4,700 employees.

tolt Sea Farms

Stolt Sea Farms is a fish farm producer of turbot and tuna. From 2005 the salmon, trout, halibut, tilapia, cod, sturgeon and caviar operations were merged into Marine Harvest.

History

Stolt-Nielsen started in 1959 as Parcel Tankers Inc. with a chartered ship. By 1963 the company had opened offices in Oslo, Norway; New York, USA and Japan and was operating 18 ships. In 1971 the first storage terminal was acquired and in 1972 Sea Farms (then not part of the Stolt-Nielsen Group) was founded. In 1988 the company issued an initial public offering on NASDAQ. In 2005 Stolt-Nielsen sold Stolt Offshore and in 2006 Marine Harvest.
