DZR (dezincification resistant brass) is an alloy use to make pipe fittings for use with potable water.

Dezincification is a form of dealloying which typically occurs in brass alloys containing more than 15% zinc. The zinc in the brass alloy is gradually dissolved out.

Dezincification can be caused by water containing sulfur, carbon dioxide and oxygen. Stagnant or low velocity waters tend to promote dezincification.
