Guillermo Roux

Guillermo Roux (born 1929) is an Argentinian painter born in Buenos Aires, Argentina who paints in watercolours and makes collages. In 1948 he completed his studies in the Buenos Aires School of Fine Arts. In 1956 he travelled to Europe, to work in the "bottega" of Umberto Nonni, in Rome as an assitan, working in restoration and decoration. In 1960, he returned to Argentina, and went to live to the province of Jujuy, taught art and continued with his paintings.In 1966 he went to New York, were he worked as an illustrator and a painter. In 1967 he returned to Buenos Aires, and travel constantly to Paris, Rome and Sicily.In 1997 he created his own teaching workshop. His themes include still life, harlequins, Italian actors and geometric shapes and his images are often surrealistic.Roux contributed one of four new frescos that were added to the cupola of the shopping arcade, Galerías Pacífico when it was opened in 1990.
