Tina Reilly (née McQueen) is a fictional character on the long-running British Channel 4 television soap opera "Hollyoaks".

She is played by Leah Hackett and made her first appearance in 2006.It was confirmed in a Liverpudlian newspaper that Leah would leave Hollyoaks in November.

Character history

Tina stands out from the rest of the McQueen family. It was revealed on the 17th April 2007 she is 22 years old. She is studious and shy, where her mother and sisters are outspoken and brash. Tina is the daughter of Myra McQueen, the result of a one night stand. Myra met Tina's father when he was a caller at the bingo hall. She fell in love with him, but when she told him she was pregnant, he gave her money to have an abortion. Myra instead used the money to buy a new baby carriage and other baby items. After telling him she was having the child, Myra never heard from him again. Tina thought she had received birthday cards from him, but eventually learned that Myra had done the cards herself and sent them out from her (Myra's) father's address.

Tina has six half-siblings: Niall Rafferty, Jacqui, Mercedes, Carmel, John Paul McQueen and Michaela McQueen.

Relationship with Dom

Tina met Dominic Reilly when eating at Il Gnosh, and became attracted to him after discovering they shared a common interest in reading and a passive demeanour. Tina has tried several times to get closer to Dom, usually ending in disaster. Mercedes, along with Dom's brother Tony Hutchinson and friend Sam "O.B." O'Brien, often inadvertently got in the way of Tina's and Dom's would-be romance.

The two finally shared a kiss just before Tina went away to visit her aunt, although not before O.B. accidentally locked Tina and Dom in Il Gnosh's walk-in freezer. They eventually got together and finally slept together after admitting they were both virgins. Tina and Dom then shared passion acting out scenes from Tina's favourite books. They were caught by Michaela and Carmel when they overheard Dom call Tina 'Cathy' (Catherine and Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights). They assumed that Dom was having an affair with Kathy Barnes. The sisters were livid and vowed revenge for Tina so went on the hunt for him (armed with a pair of shears), screaming at Dom to come out from behind the bushes and to bring 'that dodgy old slapper' (Kathy) with him, however they were mortified to find it was Tina and Dom getting romantic in there.

Marriage plans

Tina wanted to get married as two of her sisters had done so; Dom said they would not get married very soon. Hearing this, Tina slapped him and went off in a sulk. Dom later proposed in a 'clumsy' way.

Tina booked her wedding only to find Mercedes had booked her wedding to Russ Owen for the same day. This pleased her mother Myra, who suggested a double wedding to save money. Mercedes and Tina reluctantly went along with this. That night Myra, Tina, Mercedes and Jacqui went to the Loft to discuss hen nights. The Loft's disco ball fell from the roof, which Mercedes saw as an opportunity to claim compensation to go toward their wedding.

On Friday, June 22, Tina had her hen night at the Loft only to get drunk and start bad-mouthing Jacqui, Mercedes and Carmel. This led to a fight between herself and Jacqui which ended when Tina saw Clare Cunningham's body on the ground below the Loft balcony. TIna and her sisters rushed to Clare's aid and phoned an ambulance.

Tina's wedding day was overshadowed by Louise Summers interrupting the ceremony, claiming that Mercedes had cheated on Russ Owen by sleeping with Warren Fox. To salvage her wedding Tina lied to Russ, giving Mercedes an alibi for their hen night. Russ believed her and the ceremony went ahead. Tina later told Mercedes she would never forgive her for spoiling her wedding day.

Tina and Dominic had originally planned to move in with Tony and Jacqui, but stayed at home after Jacqui's miscarriage. In October 2007, Tina and Dominic used John Paul's bedroom (without his knowledge) for "snuggle time". John Paul had brought home a boy for some fun, and walked in on them. Upset with the lack of privacy in the family home, Tina and Dominic moved in with Jacqui and Tony.

In November 2007 Tina got an interview to be a careers advisor at her sister Michaela's school Hollyoaks High. The interviewer wasn't impressed with Tina's lack of qualifications but liked her passion for the job so gave it to her. Head of Careers Pete Webster had been trying to get a bit too close to Tina for her liking. Pete started to play mind games with Tina by telling warped jokes. When Tina told Pete's mum about it, he got revenge on her by telling her to put out all the chairs out in the school hall for an assembly. Tina put out all the chairs and was exhausted afterwards, but then Pete came in to the hall and said he lied about the assembly and Tina had to put the chairs back again. When Tina came back from work that day she tried to tell Dom that she was being bullied at work but Dom didn't understand her and went out, leaving Tina crying on the sofa.

When Pete pinned Tina up against the wall she was saved by brother-in-law Russ Owen, Dom took Pete's side as a result she turned to Russ for support but when she got ready to stay the night at his house they ended up in bed together. The day after Tina realised that her marriage was over and decided to end split up with Dom.

In the midst of her harassment at work, Tina agreed to be a surrogate for Jacqui and Tony. When Dom found out, he was angry he had not been consulted and forbade her from going ahead with her decision. This was one of several reasons she left him. While Dom was out of town, Tina had no idea if he would return, and decided that even if he did return, she would be Jacqui's surrogate. Soon after Christmas, Tina went to see Jacqui and Tony and told them she was ovulating. Tony put his sperm into a small container. Immediately afterwards, Myra and Mercedes, who had figured out what Tina was going to do, arrived, hoping to stall any decision. During dinner, Jacqui secretly handed Tina the container, and Tina went into the bathroom to inseminate herself. When she returned, Myra and Mercedes realized what she had done and Myra pleaded with her to take the morning-after pill. A furious Jacqui tried to throw her mother and sister out, but as they were going to leave, Dominic returned. After finding out she is pregnant Dom gives her an ultimatum — him or the baby. Ultimately, Dominic decided to support Tina and they reconciled.

Marriage struggles and paternity revelation

Dominic felt uneasy around Tina when she wanted to have sex. Both he and Tina found it awkward to explain to people that they were married and she was pregnant, but the child wasn't his. He also felt very insecure about himself, a situation made even worse when he was accosted by a gang of teenage girls. Russ saved him. Russ played a bigger role in Tina's life than Dom imagined.

On Tuesday 25 March 2008, whilst Tina was at the hospital having her 12-week pre-natal scan, it was revealed that the baby was in fact 15 weeks old and therefore must have been conceived on Thursday 6 December 2007, the night she and Russ Owen had a one-night-stand. A shocked Tina confessed all to a furious Jacqui. Jacqui convinced her to keep quiet, telling her that otherwise both their marriages would be in ruins.

Push down stairs

By early July 2008, Tina's life was in a whirlwind, as she was still unsure of giving her baby to Jacqui, Dom's and Tony's ex-love Mandy Richardson had returned to town, and Dom's and Tony's friend Max Cunningham had just been accidentally killed by Niall Rafferty in a car crash. Tina overheard Tony telling Mandy about how weird the surrogate situation was and how sick he was of just trying to pretend it was normal. Tina confided in Niall that she was thinking of giving the baby up for adoption. Tina had no idea Niall had been given up at birth by Myra, or that her remarks would send him in a rage. While she was on the phone telling Jacqui her decision, Niall shoved her down a flight of stairs.

Childbirth and hysterectomy

Tina was rushed into hospital and the baby was born via a Caesarean section. Baby Max was given to Tony and Jacqui - due to Jacqui's own reproduction complications. However, a twist in the tale was that she had received an emergency hysterectomy - therefore rendering her unable to have children again.

Later we see that Myra and Dom try to persuade Jacqui and Tony to give the baby back to Tina, who does want to keep the baby as her own.After Jacqui blackmails Tina by saying that she will tell everyone about Tina and Russ's affair, and Tina eventually hands Baby Max over. After seeing sense Jacqui reluctantley gives Baby Max back to Tina.

Church Exposion

Tina is walking down an alley with baby Max and her suitcase after walking out on Russ when Niall who was originaly going to kidnap Jacqui spots her crying and kneels down to talked to her and says: "It's not as bad as it looks; it's a lot worse!" and grabs her. Niall then took baby Max to Myra's house and left him outside or her doorstep. He said to him "sorry mate" and left him.

On the 17th of October Niall will gather all the McQueen children in the church and makes Myra decide which of her children will live or die. Niall will then blow up the church with the remaining McQueens inside. It is not been confirmed who will survive.
