History

The club was founded in 1887.

Hurling

Clarecastle has been the home to many greats in the county Clare hurling. These include Haulie Daly Pascal Russell John Callinan Barney Lynch Pat Healy, Anthony Daly, former captain and manager of Clare, Martin and Stephen Sheedy , Alan Neville, Kenny Morrisey, Ken Ralph, Victor, Ger, and Fergie O'Loughlin,and 2008 Clare selector Fergie Tuohy. Current high profile players include Jonathan Clancy and Conor Plunkett

For the 2008 season, the Clarecastle senior team was managed by Tommy Howard and trained by Fergie O'Loughlin.
