United Nations Security Council Resolution 1672

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1672

Resolution 1672 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on
25 April 2006, by a vote of 12 in favour and three abstentions (China, Qatar, and the Russian Federation). The resolution imposed a travel ban and froze the assets of Sheikh Musa Hillal, a leader of the Sudanese government backed Janjaweed militia in Darfur, and Major General Mohamed Elhassen, commander of Sudan's western military region. Sanctions were also placed on two rebel commanders: Gabriel Abdul Kareen Badri of the National Movement for Reform and Development, and Adam Yacub Shant, head of the Sudan Liberation Army.
