From 1894 to 1904, the Pemberton parish constituted the Pemberton Urban District. [ [ Pemberton Urban District Council] , URL accessed February 16, 2007.] In 1904 the urban district was abolished with its territory transferred to the borough and local government County Borough of Wigan.
