Sher Alam Ibrahimi

Sher Alam Ibrahimi

Sher Alam Ibrahimi is the Governor of Ghazni Province. A former Mujahadeen - warlord fighter associated with Rasool Sayyaf, Ibrahmi was a police chief in Kabul before being appointed to his post in 2005 [http://www.southasianmedia.net/cnn.cfm?id=218006&category=Politics&Country=AFGHANISTAN] . As with many politicians with roots in the country's violent past, Ibrahimi is a source of controversy. His campaigners were accused of threats and intimidation during the 2005 Afghanistani election [http://hrw.org/backgrounder/asia/afghanistan0905/3.htm] and in 2006 he was one of a number of Sayyaf's allies to be accused of appropriating land near Kabul [http://www.e-ariana.com/ariana/eariana.nsf/allDocs/8B887BBDA6E71B3C872571B8005A76B3?OpenDocument] .

In 2006, he survived a Taliban attack on his life.
