Hydrogen piping

Hydrogen piping

:"For other uses, see Piping."Within installations, hydrogen piping is a system of pipes used to convey hydrogen from one location to another.

For low pressure <275 psig and high pressure (276 to 7000 psig) high purity hydrogen piping stainless steel 303, 304, 316 tubing, piping, fittings and components are preferred. Maximum composite hardness of pores and solid materials is 80 rb.

Hydrogen embrittlement of Stainless Steel occurs.

Composite pipes are assessed like:
*carbon fiber structure with fiberglass overlay [http://www.rita.dot.gov/publications/hydrogen_infrastructure_safety_analysis/html/section_14_06.html] .
*perfluoroalkoxy (PFA, MFA).
*fluorinated ethylene propylene [http://www.chemposite.com/material.htm] .(FEP)
*Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (FRP)
