Information

Production & Release

The song was produced and released in Austria in 2000. The music experts expected no real big success and in Austria the song peaked #4 in the Top 40 charts. In Germany #11 and the song didn't even reach the charts of Switzerland. Few time later there was a EMI conference, where the bosses of the French and the British EMI decided also to release this song in their countries. The song generated major success in European markets, reaching #1 on the UK Singles Chart, and in Australia, it also reached #1.

High School song

"Hey Baby" is also a popular high school and collegiate band selection. Between the third and fourth quarter at each Penn State football game the song is played by the Blue Band, as the 110,000 in attendance sings along. After every win, the Boston University Ice Hockey Pep Band plays this song, and all of the students sing along. It was also played near the end of the 2005 Division I-AA Championship game, both fans of UNI and Appalachian State University were singing along. In addition (and specifically), this song is played during every home football game of the NCAA Division I-AA University of Massachusetts Amherst Minutemen football team and (generally) at a vast majority of Division 1A football home games as well.

Wyoming Area student cheering section and band play the song during every football game.

The pep band version played by many marching bands can be heard here: [http://www.bands.uiuc.edu/BBB/media/hey01.mp3]

The song is also a big hit and the event anthem at the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens and at Faribault Senior High School. Whenever the song is played in the Hong Kong or Bruce Smith Memorial Stadium, most of the fans start singing it. This song is also known as Archbishop Wood High School's unofficial theme song.

In addition, the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band's Tuba section, Blue Thunder, plays "Hey! Baby" at every Home football game, usually during the 4th quarter. They are accompanied by the Band and Blue Hen fans, who sing the words. This is always a fan favorite!
