The plot of the stage show basically follows the movie. The first scene shows the prince turning away an old woman on a cold winter's night. Because his heart is cold, she curses him, and his castle. Only the ability to love another can break the curse. The Beast exits, and the curtain opens on Belle at the bookstore. Song: Belle, which leads into Gaston! In this part Gaston declares he likes Belle, and will make her his wife. The song then leads back into Belle, and ends, where Gaston confronts her, but she tell him she doesn't want to be his wife, this angers him. The curtain close and then reopens, where Belle has "under a series of mysterious circumstances" has found herself at the Beast's castle. She is surrounded by Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip. Cogsworth is saying that they will get in troulbe for letting Belle into the castle, but the others think she could be the one to break the curse. So they throw her a feast. Song: Be Our Guest. Out run many maids and servants, not in character suits ( Luminere, Cogsworth, and other have full character suits. ) During the song you find out they've had no visitors in ten years. At this point the Beast comes in and one of the maids drags Belle off stage. The Beast starts pacing, talking about how Belle will never love him. Belle walks in and uncovers the rose. By the time all the petals fall the curse is undoable. The Beast gets angry and tell her she shouldn't have come to this part of the castle. But the others tell him to be a gentleman, she could be the one to break the curse. Song: Something There, where the two fall in love. The backdrop then changes, and Gaston walks on decclaring that Belle has said no to him for the last time. He convinces the villagers that the Beast is a monster, and the village is not safe until he is dead. Song: Kill the Beast. The villagers storm the castle, with Gaston fighting the Beast. Gaston gets the better of the Beast and he falls, and Gaston leaves. Belle comes rushing on stage, to tell the Beast she loves him. Then, the old woman walks onto stage, and turns the Beast back into the prince. They exit, and ballroom dancers appear. Beauty and the Beast is playing. The prince and Belle reappear for the last dance, dressed in their traditional outfits. The show ends with the end of Beauty and the Beast.
