Danny Sleath (born 14 December 1986 in Matlock, Derbyshire) is a professional footballer who plays for Boston United. Sleath made 14 appearances in Football League Two for Mansfield Town in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. He is affectionately known as the 'Sleathal Weapon' in reference to his rocket-like left foot. In 2011, Sleath joined selective company to be named in the starting 11 for the inaugural match of newly formed football team 'Club With No Sluts'. Sleath's attempts to be the club's first captain, however, were denied by senior management, with Ismael Gace being awarded the highly coveted captain's armband.

Career

Sleath is a graduate of the Mansfield Town youth academy and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2006.[1] During the 2006–07 season, Sleath was loaned out to Northern Premier League side Gresley Rovers,[2] and later Conference North side Alfreton Town,[3] to get first-team experience. After being recalled to his parent club, he made his first-team debut for Mansfield against Boston in March 2007,[4] and was offered a new contract in May 2007.[5] He joined Boston United on loan in November 2007,[6] and then Gainsborough Trinity on loan in March 2008 until the end of the 2007–08 season.[7] He was released by Mansfield at the end of the 2007–08 season.[8] After his release by Mansfield, he decided to pursue a career outside full-time professional football and enrolled at Loughborough University.[9] He played for Northern Premier League Premier Division club Eastwood Town in September 2008.[9][10] He spent the second half of the season with Ilkeston Town helping the club earn promotion.[11] In July 2009, Sleath signed for Boston United,[11] and helped them to their best run of results for 23 years during the 2009-10 season,[12] as Boston won the Unibond League Challenge Cup and promotion.[13][14] He played in the final of the 2011 Summer Universiade for Great Britain

Aside from football, Sleath works in London at online music platform Last.fm.
