Eigenji, Shiga

Eigenji, Shiga

was a town located in Kanzaki District, Shiga, Japan. On 11 February 2005, it merged with Yōkaichi city and Gokashō, Aitō, and Kotō towns to form a new city called Higashiōmi.

In 2003, the town had an estimated population of 6,194 and a density of 34.17 persons per km². The total area was 181.27 km².

Eigenji is noted for having a famous temple and being a key spot for viewing the momiji leaves turn red in the autumn.
