1979 in Pakistan

In 1979, Zia-ul-Haq, aged 51, led Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to the gallows to be hanged with tragic consequences after giving no consideration to the pleas from capitals around the world not to. What bothered governments world over would however be the eventful attack by a mob on the United States Embassy setting it afire. A slight hope rekindled when Abdus Salam won the Nobel Prize.
