Swarthmoor is a village near Ulverston, in Cumbria, England. Like all of Furness, it is historically part of Lancashire.

Swarthmoor's name is derived from the word "smeart", meaning black. The town's name was originally not written as a conjunction; the 'Swarth Moor' referring to the now drained moorland.
