Thornton Rust is a village in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. It lies about 2 miles west of Aysgarth, high on the south side of the Ure valley.

The village has a bus service which is run by the Dales & District and goes to Leyburn and Hawes,cite web|url=http://www.northyorkstravel.info/pdf/YNAO157.pdf|title=Northallerton - Bedale - Leyburn - Hawes 157, 156, POS Operated by Dales & District, Royal Mail Postbus|work=North Yorkshire County Council Public Transport Information|year=2007|accessdate=2008-01-04] with about five buses per day on weekdays, three on Saturdays and two on Sundays in each direction.
