Weaver Community, West Virginia

Weaver Community, West Virginia

Weaver Community is an unincorporated community in Barbour County, West Virginia, in the United States.

History

Weaver Community was once an economically impressive area. At one point, in the mid to late 1800s, it had three theaters, a wooden boardwalk and a strong economy fueled by the coal industry. The foundations of a number of these buildings can still be found. A long row of brick coke ovens are still standing in places, no longer visible from the road, but still easily found.

Weaver was one of the sites considered for the County Seat for Barbour County until Philippi was selected.
