David Plant

David Plant

David Plant (March 29, 1783 – October 18, 1851[1]) was a United States Representative from Connecticut. He was born in Stratford, Connecticut. He attended the Episcopal Academy, Cheshire, Connecticut and graduated from Yale College in 1804. He studied law in the Litchfield Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1804 and commenced practice in Stratford. He was a judge of the probate court of Fairfield County.

Plant was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives 1817-1820 and served as speaker. He served in the Connecticut Senate in 1821 and 1822 and Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut 1823-1827. He was elected to the Twentieth Congress (March 4, 1827 - March 3, 1829). He did not seek renomination in 1828. He resumed the practice of law and died in Stratford, Connecticut in 1851. He was buried in the Congregational Burying Ground.
