Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers

The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) is a professional organization of individuals working in the fields of tribology and lubrication. The society is composed of 4000 technical professionals working in industry, academic institutions and government around the world. STLE's objective is to bring together managers, engineers, scientists, technicians and craftspeople to learn and share "best practices" associated with the design and operation of modern machinery and equipment.

The STLE Mission Statement is ::"To advance the science of tribology and the practice of lubrication engineering in order to foster innovation, improve the performance of equipment and products, conserve resources and protect the environment."

Technical professionals can earn professional certification through three STLE-sponsored programs: Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), Oil Monitoring Analyst (OMA) and Certified Metalworking Fluids Specialist (CMFS).
