The New York Academy of Art or the Graduate School of Figurative Art is an American private, not-for-profit art university, located in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York.

Foundation

The school was founded in 1979 by a group of individuals including the artist Andy Warhol and Stuart Pivar, a chemist, art collector and author.[clarification needed][1]

Academics

It offers instruction in figurative arts and art history.[2] The school provides continuing-education opportunities as well as a degree-path curriculum.

On successful completion of a two-year program, it bestows on qualified students the Master of Fine Arts degree with concentrations in drawing, painting and sculpture.

The school is located at 111 Franklin Street.
