WAMX (106.3 FM, "X106-3") is an Active Rock music formatted radio station serving the "Tri-State" area of Huntington, West Virginia, Ashland, Kentucky, and Ironton, Ohio. WAMX was formerly owned by AM-FM Licenses, and now owned by Clear Channel Communications, along with WTCR-FM, WTCR-AM, WKEE-FM, WBKS, WBVB-FM, WZZW-AM and WVHU-AM. Currenetly WAMX ranks sixth in the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area Arbitron ratings. The station shares a tower in Milton with WZZW-AM. X 106.3 and Clear Channel hold the annual X-Fest, which is located in Huntington's Harris Riverfront Park. X-usually is held around Labor Day. Despite having an ERP of only 1,650 watts, X 106.3's signal can reach Portsmouth, Ohio and Charleston, West Virginia, appearing in the latter's Arbitron ratings.
